Giving at Christian Family Chapel

We believe that personal giving is a strong reflection of our trust in God, and our maturity as followers of Jesus. The New Testament teaches that our giving is to be regular, sacrificial, proportional, and joyful.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. - Luke 6:38

Regular (give on a consistently regular schedule)

On the first day of every week every one of you… - 1 Corinthians 16:2

Proportional (determine a percentage of your income in advance that you commit to give)

The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea - Acts 11:29-30

…every one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income… - 1 Corinthians 16:2

Sacrificial (give enough that it requires sacrifice)

He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins - Luke 21”1-4, Acts 2:45

Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. - 2 Corinthians 8:2

Joyful (give with a grateful and cheerful heart)

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. - 2 Corinthians 9:7

...freely you have received, freely give... - Matthew 10:8b

Biblical stewardship is an acknowledgement that everything we have belongs to the Lord and that He has called us to live purposeful lives, investing our time, talent and treasure in the Kingdom of God.

This is a discipline that we are called to intentionally develop....

Excel also in the grace of giving. - 2 Corinthians 8:7, 13-15
