Why Family Groups?
Family Groups is CFC’s new name for our small group home fellowships, but the change to Family Groups is more than just a name change, it is a significant change in how we now view this ministry.
- We believe that Family Groups provide the best environment for authentic Christian fellowship to take place.
- We believe that Family Groups provide the optimal situation where truth(the Word of God) and love (relationships) come together.
- We believe that the Family Group provides the primary setting for mutual care and ministry to one another.
- We believe that Family Groups is a place for raising up new servant-leaders.
- Our desire is that everyone attending CFC would be involved in a Family Group.
What is a Family Group?
A Family Group is a small group within the church that is a voluntary, intentional gathering of (8-20) people regularly meeting together with the shared goal of mutual edification and authentic Christian fellowship.
Within the church...
Gives spiritual context and purpose to the small group's existence under the direction of the Holy Spirit and the oversight of the elders of CFC.
Voluntary...
Potential members / group members choose to participate.
Intentional...
Clear purpose and design bringing people together for deliberate reasons.
(8-20) people...
Group size is important. Effective interpersonal relationships involving over 12 people require an apprentice leader and the need to subgroup. A larger group helps promote the goal of group multiplication.
Regularly meeting together...
Meets at least twice a month. Other monthly meetings by gender and one-on-one are also encouraged in order to develop deeper relationships.
Shared goal...
Everyone in the group accepts and promotes the common goals.
Mutual...
Involvement is both giving and receiving.
Edification...
Building up one another to know, love, and serve Christ.
Authentic Christian fellowship...
Knowing and being known, loving and being loved, serving and being served, praying and being prayed for, and celebrating and being celebrated.
