Nursery - Newborn to 2 Years Old
Our Nursery offers five age-level areas, fully staffed, to provide a safe, loving environment for your baby. We are also concerned about their spiritual growth. Our "Play, Say, Pray, My Church Today!" Program ensures that every child in our nursery will hear scripture and be prayed for each Sunday. Parents will also receive a copy of "My Church Today" each week.
Play, Say, Pray … My Church Today!
We are committed to the spiritual nurturing of ALL of our children at Christian Family Chapel … even the babies in our Nursery! Each Sunday morning, all of the children in our Nursery program will experience the Play, Say, Pray program, developed by the CFC Children’s Ministry.
Each child will be read a passage of scripture set to rhyme, do a finger play related to the scripture verse, and will be prayed for individually by their Nursery care giver. We believe, in faith, that God will use His Word, and our prayers, to impact the lives our infants throughout the years to come.
The Pray, Say, Play content changes each week. The scriptures, finger plays, and prayers we use are available on a “take away” card for you as a parent with your child throughout the week.
Christian Family Chapel Nursery Policies For Parents
Christian Family Chapel provides five well-staffed and sanitary nurseries to provide for young children on Sunday mornings. Children are grouped by age as follows:
- Newborn Infant Nursery (0-6 months)
- Infants (7-12 months)
- Older Infants (13-18 months)
- Toddlers (19-14 months)
- Older Toddlers (25+ months)
So that we may serve you better, we ask that you please review and adhere to the following policies.
- Please drop off your child to the nursery early enough to allow yourself time to be in the auditorium or your neighborhood fellowship on time. So that you may be reached during the service, if needed, we suggest that you sit near the rear of the auditorium, on the outside aisle.
- Because it is highly disruptive to the well-being of the nursery, please do not check on your child during the service or break. Our workers are instructed to contact you if they are in need of your assistance. Very often the mere sight of a parent is enough to start a chain-reaction of crying through the entire group, so please assist our workers by not coming into nursery rooms during the morning. Please remain at the check-in door and speak to a greeter if you have concerns regarding your child. All parents of children six months of age and younger are asked to check in with the greeter at the check-in door between services. Often inconsolable babies need their mothers, and it would facilitate our reaching you if you check in with us at the break.
- In order to be considerate of and to protect all children, parents are requested not to bring a child who appears to be ill. Any child who has a fever, runny nose due to an upper respiratory infection, diarrhea, or who is on medication for a communicable disease is considered ill. The parents of any child who is considered to be ill or who has an accident while in the nursery will be notified immediately.
- All items brought to the nursery should be marked as to ownership (diaper bags, bottles, pacifiers, etc.)
- Please send a change of clothing in your child's diaper bag.
- No person is allowed beyond the hall door except the nursery workers. The only exception would be nursing mothers. Children will be received at the door in the hall and brought to you when you come to pick them up.
- To avoid congestion in the hallways, it is requested that only one parent (not siblings) drop off and call for the child. All other family members should wait elsewhere. Children should be picked up immediately following the service.
We are committed to excellence in our nursery program. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve Jesus Christ by caring for your child.
Preschool - Ages 2, 3, 4, 5
Two programs are offered for our Preschool children (ages 2, 3, 4, 5) on Sunday mornings. "First Look" is our teaching time during the second hour (9:30-10:45). "The Park" is our worship and activity time during the first hour (8:00-9:15) or third hour (11:00-12:15).
First Look
Our preschool Sunday programs are designed to give our youngest learners a first impression of our Heavenly Father.
As our little ones learn the basics of our faith, they begin to understand …
God made me and everything else wonderful in this world! He is creator and the beginning of all things!
Foundational to our preschoolers is learning that God loves me! God is always with me and we can trust Him because we know He loves us!
As friendships are beginning to form, we want our little ones to know that there is no other Friend like Jesus and that Jesus wants to be my Friend forever!
Each week is full of objects for kids to touch, wild and wiggly activities to get them moving, crafts they will love getting into, and real life situation they can relate to. Our goal is to help each child master one concept at a time by creatively repeating the "bottom line" in a way that it will stick.
Each teaching session begins with activities to introduce kids to the day’s topic and help them feel welcome and comfortable in their classroom. Next, preschoolers take part in a large group time that includes a Bible story and worship. We believe preschoolers are wired to worship! So each week we include a worship segment with suggested music to encourage preschoolers to openly express their love for who God is and to praise Him for all He has created. After large group, preschoolers take part in a variety of activities that will help them apply what they’re learning. And finally, during small group time children will begin to understand that they can talk to God at any time and in any place. Kids will be encouraged to openly communicate with God in their own words while developing their ability to know and worship Him.
The Park (our Children’s Church Program)
Praise, Puppets, Play, and Positive character values are the focus in The Park. The Park will teach your preschoolers the same virtue being learned during our KidStuf program. The Park also includes music, playground time, snack and activity time.
Elementary - Grades K-5
Three programs are offered for our elementary children (grades K-5) on Sunday mornings. During the first hour (8:00-9:15) a small group teaching time is available. "UpStreet" is our teaching and discipleship program during the second hour (9:30-10:45). "KidStuf" is our exciting new family worship and teaching program during the third hour (11:00-12:00).
Early Church (8:00-9:15)
The small class size during First Church makes this program a unique opportunity for spiritual learning and growth. The curriculum is topical and varies each semester.
UpStreet (9:30-10:45)
UpStreet is an exciting program for children in grades K through 5. UpStreet combines a small group experience and a large group teaching and worship time.
We start with 3 simple principles, 3 basic truths that are modeled in a passage of scripture found in Luke 2:52. There, it says that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.
In other words, when you look at that passage, you recognize that God, for whatever reason, decided to reveal to us a strategy about the development of Jesus … that he grew up in wisdom, he grew up in favor with God, which is faith, and he grew up in favor with man, which, in children’s terms, is friendship.
At CFC, we would love to see every child in every home embrace these three truths …
We want our kids to walk into their adult years and say, I need to make the wise choice. We know there will be times in their lives where they will go through some difficult waters, and to navigate through life they must learn to make the right choices and decisions. We know that God has given us truth, through His Word to help make those decisions.
Second, we want our kids to say, I can trust God no matter what. Regardless of what others do, regardless of what the circumstances around me suggest, regardless of what life throws in my direction, I know I can trust God. He will always be there. He will never abandon me.
And third, we want our kids to learn to love others and say; I need to treat others the way I want to be treated. We know Jesus modeled that for us.
Children are split into grade level age groups and begin in their small group classrooms with an inviting activity time. All the small groups then meet together for an upbeat worship time and Bible lesson. This large group time includes drama, storytelling, and interaction with the hosts and storytellers. After the lesson, children return to their small groups for discussion, prayer, and lesson enrichment activities.
UpStreet provides our children with solid Biblical teaching and emphasis on Godly characteristics. This time is enriched and encouraged by small group shepherd leaders.
KidStuf (11:00-12:00)
At CFC, we believe that KidStuf is an important and valuable tool that can assist you in parenting and teaching your children essential spiritual principles. The concept behind KidStuf is rooted in a Biblical mandate found in Deuteronomy 6:5-9.
The importance of KidStuf in your week can show up in many ways. First, it creates a shared worship experience for you and your kids. As you experience KidStuf together, you have a platform for discussion in the days to follow. Rather than defer to the influence of peers, media, or the culture around us, now YOU, the parent, have a common-ground experience in which to share with and teach your kids.
The 45-minute investment at KidStuf can lead to countless opportunities for informal reinforcement and discussion. These informal impression points don't have to be created, they just happen - at the dinner table, while driving in the car, while watching television, or while tucking your child into bed at night.
KidStuf is a family centered, shared worship experience for parents and their kids.It is an upbeat environment where learning about faith and character is fun and relevant! The shared experience is a Family Value that will last all week long!
