CFC Men's Discipleship Program

Goal
Our desire is to glorify God through a multiplying ministry in which men, who are fully devoted to Christ, disciple men who will, in turn, disciple other men. Disciple-making requires a context of extended time in life-on-life relationship.
Core Values
To effectively disciple a man into greater Christ-likeness we believe the man must commit to the following values:
• Truth - A commitment to submission to the authority of God’s Word.
• Relationship - A commitment to allow men to speak into one another’s life.
• Authenticity - A commitment to open and honest wrestling of the application of truth within a small group of men.
• Consistency - Regular attendance over an extended period of time.
• Preparation - A commitment to complete required reading in advance of meetings.
The Discipleship Experience
A man who participates should expect to experience the following:
• No teacher or instructor. This is an entirely life-on-life experience, not a class. The goal is for each group to consist of 2-5 men including one discipleship leader.
• Prioritized attendance. Each man is expected to attend the 1-1/2 hour meeting each week. Groups will meet at various times and places but seek to follow a similar schedule.
• Consistent relationship. The group of men will remain the same over the entire session and will have opportunity to remain the same throughout all three sessions.
• Homework. Each week will have required reading from a selected book.
• Personal Challenge. The goal is to grow into greater Christ-likeness. This will require honest assessment of a man’s present spiritual maturity and his need for repentance in particular areas.
Discipleship Progression
The discipleship experience will begin with a 16-week training session open to all men who are interested in pursuing discipleship. Following this initial session, those committed to continuing the program will be placed in a small group of men for three additional 16-week sessions as described below. In most cases, each man would work through these sessions with a similar group of men and a discipleship leader (all leaders have completed the Discipleship Program).
Session 1: Discipleship Essentials
• Goal: To establish the basic disciplines and doctrines in the life of a disciple.
• Weekly Preparation: Reading of the Discipleship Essentials text and completion of the workbook.
Session 2: Trusting God
• Goal: To deepen the disciple’s grasp of the
doctrine of the Sovereignty of God in light of
pain and suffering in our lives.
• Weekly Preparation: Completion of the Trusting God Study Guide.
Session 3: The Measure of a Man
• Goal: To focus on the 20 character qualities that
are Biblical requirements for qualification of elders
and deacons.
• Weekly Preparation: Reading of The Measure
of a Man.
