Ministry Focus

Bringin college students to Jesus Christ and preparing them for a lifetime of service. Church planting at the Public University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain.

Personal Journey

Dom's Call to Christ:

Although I grew up in a religious home and knew about God, I did not know Him personally.  My parents divorced when I was 10.  As a child I would lie, take things that weren’t mine, and fight with other classmates.  The divorce caused me to search for purpose and stability in my life.  My older brother, Michael, who was 19 years old at the time became a Christian.  I saw a big change for the better in him and wanted what he now had.

In June of 1983, at a Vacation Bible School, I confessed being a sinner and trusted that Jesus Christ died for all my sins on the cross and rose from the dead.  Even then I sensed that God wanted me to one day tell many others about His love and forgiveness.

Dámaris’ Call to Christ:

I was born in Zaragoza, Spain and grew up in that city all of my life. My father has been an evangelical pastor and church planter in Spain for the past 55 years. In 1981, through the example of my parents and sisters’ living faith in Jesus Christ, I came to personally have a relationship with Jesus.

Call to Missions Service:

Dom: In my senior year of high school, I recommitted my life to Jesus Christ at a Christian concert.  I was encouraged to study the Bible, pray daily and find others who were doing the same.  Looking for Christian fellowship upon entering the University of Florida became a priority.

Siva, a UF student who was originally from India, befriended me.  We got together to pray and study the Bible with a few other freshmen involved in Gator Christian Life.  I began to understand what I had been missing.  He asked if I wanted to meet once a week to share the Gospel with UF students using a spiritual interest questionnaire.  Learning how to effectively share my faith with others was a new and exciting experience.

In 1991, I was invited to attend a 10-week summer program called Leadership Training (LT) held in Washington DC.  After that summer of intense Bible teaching, challenging work experience, and evangelism training I sensed the Lord calling me towards missions.  Over the next three summers, God confirmed that He was preparing me for full-time Christian service.

My mother’s relocation to Jacksonville and a job in business first brought me to Christian Family Chapel in September 1996 where I served in both the college and singles ministry.  By the summer of 1998, I returned to UF as a full-time missionary.  In January 2001, CFC officially commended me as a missionary.

Later that same year, a UF student’s mother from Spain introduced Dámaris and I via email.  An amazing friendship developed between us and we married in the summer of 2003.  When Dámaris came to UF, she instantly fit in with the team and began to serve with me in the ministry.  She is a gifted teacher, administrator and hostess.

Over the past 10 years at UF, the Lord has been preparing me for cross-cultural missions.  Some of the ways have been through leading multiple short-term mission teams to Latin America and Europe, establishing an International Student Ministry at UF and marrying an international wife.

Since my ordination as a campus pastor in November 2005, I have realized the most effective way to fulfill the Great Commission is by planting missional churches.    Over the past three years, the Lord has opened a door for us to plant a campus church in Pamplona, Spain where there are over 20,000 college students who don’t have access to one evangelical ministry. Currently, we are building a team and raising funds for the church plant.

Fruits of Our Labor

Evangelism Training: Dom has been responsible for equipping hundreds of UF students in how to share their faith.  As a result, multitudes have heard about Jesus and many have put their trust in Him!

International Student Ministry:  Dom began a ministry to reach international students for Christ in 1999.  Today, the ministry continues meeting practical needs and sharing the gospel with UF students from across the globe.  The ISM has served students from more than 35 nations!

Spring Break Outreaches: In 2004, Dom envisioned GCL Home Groups to lead their groups on spring break outreaches. Since then over 400 UF students have used their spring break to serve God and evangelize!

Overseas Short-term Mission Teams:  Dom initiated Gator Christian Life’s first overseas short-term mission team.  GCL has now taken 15 successful teams to countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Germany, Poland, Italy and Spain.  Praise God for all He has done and continues to do!
