Servant Profile

Your servant profile includes three aspects of your unique identity: your passion, your spiritual gift, and your personal style. Your passion tells you WHERE you should serve in the body. Your spiritual gift tells you WHAT you should do when you serve. Your personal style tells you HOW you should serve.

After reading the following description of passion, spiritual gifts, and personal styles, please complete the following survey to register your Servant Profile. The survey will take 5-10 minutes to complete and will be kept confidential. A member of the Serving Central Ministry may contact you after receiving the survey to clarify responses and assist you in finding an appropriate ministry area in which to serve. Passion - Where you should serve.

Some people have a passion for a specific group of people. Others have a passion for a specific cause. Still others have a passion for a specific role in the church.

To determine your passion, consider the people you would like to help most or the causes you feel strongly about. What would your friends say you are interested in or passionate about? What could you stay up all night talking about?

Examples of passions:

  • Groups - teens, widowed, elderly, children, prisoners, homeless, single parents, etc.
  • Causes - education, family, poverty, abortion, discipleship, reaching the lost, addictions, missions, etc.
  • Roles - organizer, counselor, coach, writer, performer, etc.

Spiritual gifts - What you should do.

Once you determine where you will serve (based on your passion), you need to determine what you are gifted to do. The most effective way to serve in the church is to use the spiritual gifts God has given you.

Examples of Spiritual gifts:

  • Administration - to understand, plan, organize and manage tasks or events
  • Apostleship - to start and oversee the development of new churches or ministries
  • Craftsmanship - to creatively design or construct items to be used in ministry
  • Creative Communication - to communicate God's truth through various art forms
  • Discernment - to distinguish truth from error
  • Encouragement - to comfort or confront others to trust in the promises of God
  • Evangelism - to effectively communicate the gospel to unbelievers
  • Faith - to believe the promises of God and inspires others to do the same
  • Giving - to contribute money and resources to the work of the Lord
  • Helps - to see the practical things that need to be done and enjoy doing them
  • Hospitality - to meet and care for people and help them feel welcomed
  • Intercession - to consistently pray for others and see specific results
  • Knowledge - to bring truth to the body through revelation or biblical insight
  • Leadership - to cast vision and direct people to accomplish God's purposes
  • Mercy - to cheerfully help those who are suffering
  • Prophecy - to reveal and proclaim truth for understanding, correction, or edification
  • Shepherding - to nurture, care for and guide people toward spiritual maturity
  • Teaching - to explain and apply God's word, resulting in Christ-likeness in listeners
  • Wisdom - to apply spiritual truth to meet a need in a specific situation

Personal style - How you should serve.

Are you more people-oriented or more task-oriented? Are you more structured or more unstructured? The answers will affect the way you serve in the church.

Examples of Personal Styles:

  • People-structured
    People with this personal style should work with people in a structured environment; for example family group leader or counselor.
  • People-unstructured
    People with this personal style should work with people in an unstructured environment, for example youth ministry or hospital visitation.
  • Task-structured
    People with this personal style should focus on tasks in a structured environment, for example event planning or building committee.
  • Task-unstructured
    People with this personal style should focus on tasks in an unstructured environment, for example organizing the food closet or running sound or lights.
